Luke Getsy believes Bears offense 'in process of building something special' despite bad start LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Of all the members of the Bears who have been taking some heavy criticism in the midst of a bad start, no one is doing so as much as the team's offensive coordinator. But despite a rough three games, Luke Getsy is far from losing faith in his unit or his quarterback Justin Fields, which he made clear on Thursday. "We're in the process of building something special," said Getsy when asked how he's prevented frustration during a difficult start. "It's Week 3 going to Week 4 and we're going to find a way to attack Denver in a completely different way than we did Kansas City. That's the week-to-week challenge that you have."There's different schemes, there's different mentalities of coordinators that you're playing against. Like Coach Flus (Matt Eberflus) kinda always says, you get 24 hours to enjoy or be sad about whatever the heck happened, and you move on, that's part of our business."It's a 17-week process, not a three-week process."That's been harder for some on ...

“Super El Niño” likely this winter, NCAR experimental prediction system says Current El Niño conditions that began a couple months early this year could develop into one of the strongest events on record this winter, according to an experimental research prediction system from the National Science Foundation’s National Center for Atmospheric Research. If the forecast system is right, this El Niño would be comparable to the major El Niño of 1997 and 1998.“Our forecast system has shown that it can do a remarkably good job of accurately hindcasting past El Niño events when we’ve tested it using historical data, which gives us high confidence in this forecast,” NCAR scientist Stephen Yeager, who helped lead the modeling effort, said in a news release.El Niño events, which usually peak in December, are characterized by warmer-than-average temperatures in the Tropical Pacific Ocean. They can have a significant impact on weather patterns across North America, causing the northern U.S. and Canada to become warmer and drier than usual while the southern U.S. becomes w...

NFL Picks: Can the Dolphins follow up 70 with win at Buffalo? Plus Justin Jefferson’s ridiculousness and the roaring Lions Around the AFCSomebody, anybody? The Broncos are winless. The Chargers and Raiders enter Week 4 each at 1-2 and set to face each other. They account for three of the NFL’s five worst defenses so far. Is anybody going to even pretend to challenge Kansas City this year? Justin Herbert’s playing great under OC Kellen Moore (third in passing yards, second in quarterback rating so far) but the Chargers have losses to Miami and Tennessee on the books already. The Raiders? Well … probably not.Promising start. Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is already turning heads. He’s fifth in the NFL in passing yards through three games (908), 10th in quarterback rating and has thrown 121 passes without an interception. The rookie struggles are likely coming at some point, but the former Ohio State standout has hopes running high in Houston. What coulda been. It should have been Patrick Mahomes against Aaron Rodgers. Instead it’s the starting-to-hit-their-stride Chiefs against a Jets team that loo...
