Transit advocates are hailing a proposed metro-wide sales tax increase that is expected to be signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz this week as an unprecedented win for efforts to restore and expand Metro Transit’s bus and rail network, which has suffered bruising challenges since the outset of the pandemic.The 0.75% sales tax increase included in the proposed transportation omnibus bill would raise more than $440 million per year for public transit spending, roughly equivalent to the Metropolitan Council’s annual transportation budget. (NEWS10) -- An Ilion man was sentenced to three years in prison for possessing a drug, sometimes marketed as "bath salts" with intent to sell in, according to the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). Police have arrested a Missouri man they believe intentionally crashed a U-Haul truck into a security barrier at a park across from the White House. No one was injured in the crash.The box truck's driver smashed into the barrier near the north side of Lafayette Square on Monday at around 10 p.m., Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.
